The Wall, and the future of America.
I got an email yesterday from former Vice President Al Gore. It was an invitation to meet him at “The Wall.” I briefly mentioned this in a post I wrote earlier in the month. Here is a quick quote from the email sent out,
“The Wall is a place where literally thousands and thousands of people committed to a revolutionary new energy future for our nation and the world are coming together — to express our hopes, share our resolve, and step up to a leadership role in building a grassroots movement for change like nothing America has ever seen. It’s an opportunity for you to be part of the climate movement in a new way, in a way that takes us beyond ourselves.” So what you say? Well, let’s be real about this. Nothing like this has ever been done. It’s unique in that it is a place for all Americans to come together on an issue and allows us to form one voice. One enormous voice for bold change and action on our energy policy in the United States, to take a stand against climate change, not just for ourselves, but for the entire world.
I checked out “The Wall” and what I found really interesting is that it provides a spot where normal, everyday people are coming together with celebrities, companies and CEO’s from all over the country. We’re looking at places like Nike and Pepsi coming together with people like you and me to show their support for a new future of clean energy and doing something NOW, instead of later.
There are even republicans and evangelicals on there. It is really quite something to see. I highly suggest you go check it out, and if you believe in a clean energy future and want to take a stand against the worst scenarios of Climate Change, I recommend adding your voice to the already more than 10,000 on there. Watch some of the short videos, see what other people have to say.
Needless to say, it is pretty impressive to see so many faces coming together. Check it out here, www.repoweramerica.org/wall
Together, we can change America, we can change the world!

Doing something NOW….reminds me of pre-Civil War events.
The North and South were – as most Americans know – incredibly different, opposite on some morals even. The disagreement continued and built up over the first half of the 19th century. The government churned out a few sketchy compromises, but no long term solutions. The nation put the problem off and it evolved into a devastating war.
While the Civil War is distantly related (if even that) to energy issues the pre-war principle of not doing anything for the long term certainly applies now. We through it off for the present and we will reap the undesirable consequences in the future.
Doing something now is imperative…I don’t want my future grand-kids living in a scorched world.
Besides…fossil fuels won’t last forever.
What a great connection I never really would have thought of on my own. Thank you for putting this out there, and let’s hope others are encouraged to take action, Now, not later.
Dido! And thanks.

Sahara´s last blog ..The Snowflake Method Introduction
I had never heard of The Wall, I will have to check it out. I don’t believe that the government will do anything about global warming so I think it has to initiate with the public. Once the public is on board, companies will follow and then the government.

Anne, it just became live like 2 days ago, so I am not surprised you haven’t heard of it.
That is kind of the idea behind it, actually. It is to show that the people are behind it doing something and when looking at it, you’ll see logos from some of the world’s major companies, based in the United States, of course, as well as even some of their CEOs and such that do a short video, or have a testimonial on why it is crucial we start doing something NOW and stop delaying action.
